What was I thinking?!

So... ever since I found out we were pregnant I have planning to sew a blessing gown/ outfit for the baby. The problem is I don't know how to sew! It is a pretty ambitious undertaking but I really want to try it. After realizing we are down to 9, yes NINE, weeks before Aileah comes I decided I ought start to learn how to sew something. Yikes! Where did all the time go?!
I headed over to my Mom and Dad's house for a sewing lesson from Mom. I have only ever sewed one other item... a scripture bag made from a place mat. That project required lots of help from my wonderful roommate, Jessica. Mom and I decided to start with a blanket. Mom and Sheri must have thought I know more than I do...but I don't know the first thing about sewing! I provided lots of laughs for the two of them as I struggled to make my little project. I was able to do most of it on my own! I did need a little help from the ladies along the way. But I have finished my second sewing project! Next week... a practice blessing gown. I will try to post pictures of the blanket and dress later. What was I thinking?! I must be crazy!

You still have time. You can do it! I remember them laughing at me making the little vest for baby Alex--and I haven't sewn a single thing since then.

Time flies so fast doesn't it? And then at the same time it doesn't. How does that work? Good luck with little Aileah's dress. It sounds like you are on your way. I am a chicken or maybe just not patient enough when it comes to that kind of thing. I probably would have commissioned one the two laughing at me to do it ;).

Good luck! I'm sure it will turn out well and Aileah's dress will mean that much more to her because of the love and effort that you put into it. And I'm impressed - my sewing machine cringes if I even look at it!

I wish I could sew.
It is always good to learn new things.
Good luck ~

It might have helped if you had tried to learn to sew from someone who actually knows how to sew, right? Sorry it's been hard to learn. You're doing great, though.

You can totally do it....with a little help from those that know what they are doing. I made Esther's dress, I still don't know how it happened, but people told me what to do and I did it. Good luck with that.

We love the name. SO CUTE. Hope you are feeling good. The last 9 months don't go very fast, but they will end and then it gets good!

You'll do just terrific! And remember, she can't be embarassed for another 10 years or so. By that time, you'll be a pro! Good luck! I've been sewing for such a long time know that I don't remember ever not knowing how. But I started when my oldest was a baby and couldn't complain, and baby dresses are just about the easiest thing you can sew, so they're good practice. Especially if you follow a pattern :)

Did you ever try making that dress yet?

Okay, I think I am going to be all right to work on the dress again with you soon. Do you think you will be? Only 8 days left till her due date!
